Cycling adventures and maby some wine.

Day -1

I have a feeling we are not going to see much grape on the northern part of the Europe Divide. Fortunatly there are ways to compensate. And having 5 hours to kill between flights, we where able to see some grape.

Arrived without any problems, at our hotel in Kirkenes, and immediatly set about building the bikes and repacking all the gear. Had a quick look at the midnight sun, closed the curtians and let those grapes put us to sleep.

The route

Euro Divide northern section:

3000km Kirkenes to Gothenberg.
35 days, 1 ocean, 1 sea, rivers, lakes, swamps, trees, trees and more trees, lots of gravel but maby not so much grapes(wine). We are just tackling the northern scandinavian section of the European divide. The rest of the route continues from Gothenberg (our goal) down through Denmark, Germany, France, Spain and finaly ending at the south western tip of Portugal.
Save that for another day.

A true and tested traveling companion.

Been only 30 something years since we last got together and even longer since we were out on an adventure…

What can go wrong?

I first met Andreas in 1982 when we both where attending B.C.I.T(British Columbia Institute of Technology). After about 10 years of close friendship we both drifted into completly different corners of the world. Andreas to eastern Canada and a career in education in Toronto, and myself, well I ended up here in Åre, Sweden.

This isn’t his first rodeo.

Photo taken in November 1989 on our last adventure in the western desert of Egypt, but thats another story.
